My Parent's Christmas Miracle

So my parents bought their first house in West Jordan ten years ago. I can clearly remember the day we moved in. My parents didn't hire any movers because they decided that my sisters and I would be able to move all of our stuff in ourselves. It was my very first room that I didn't have to share with my sister. I had a room all to myself!

I had finished unloading all of my boxes into my own room and decided to help my parents with some of their boxes. I had this huge heavy box in my hands and didn't know where to put it. I asked my dad where he wanted it and he said to put it down in the basement. I wasn't really familiar with the house and didn't know the door to which the basement lead down to. I searched for about 30 minutes, opened all the downstairs doors to find that there was no door that lead down to a basement. I put the box down in confusion and reported back to my dad that we didn't have a basement. His response, "WHAT! THERE'S NO BASEMENT!" Hahaha!

After all the years that I lived there, I always thought it was weird that our house was the only house on the block that didn't have a basement. My friends would sometimes tell me that they knew someone that had the same layout that our house did, but theirs had a basement. Didn't think too much of it then.

Because of the lack of space, my parents had turned their garage into a game room/storage room. My mom even used one of the coat closets for a place to put her food storage.

A week ago, my parents were having plumbing issues and had a plumber come over to fix a problem they were having. The plumber told my parents that he would need to see the basement to figure out what the problem was. My mom told him that they didn't have a basement, but the plumber insisted that they did. After arguing for a couple minutes, the plumber convinced my mom to let him try to find it. He walked to one of the closets downstairs, opened the door and pointed to a piece of plywood that was against the wall that was blocked by a big shelf we had put there. He removed the shelf, and yanked the plywood off the wall, and lo and behold, stairs that lead down to a basement.

When we all came over for Christmas, my parents were so excited to tell us about the great news they had! My favorite quote from Christmas night was my mom saying, "Princess! I'm so excited I found the basement!"

It was a Christmas Miracle!

A Holiday Spectacular!

On Saturday we had the annual "Ugly Sweater" party over at Alpine Meadows with all of Matt's friends and their wives. Our friends Brynn and Andrew hosted it and did an amazing job. They had picked a family from the Angel Tree and asked us to buy them gifts for Christmas this year. This family has a two year old daughter that has been through Chemotherapy twice. I think they said that she has cancerous cells in her brain stem. Matt and I were assigned to buy gifts for her older 17 year old sister. We went to AE the night before and bought her some jeans, and a bunch of sweaters, and some boots. Matt thought it would be cute too if we bought her "17 Again".

Before the "get together" started we all drove over to the family's house and dropped off our gifts and also wished them a Merry Christmas. There were so many of us that crammed into their living room. I think it scared the little one because she saw us and ran to her mom and held on to her for dear life. They were so greatful for us being able to help them this year. The oldest girl and her mom had started crying and at that moment I had felt the spirit enter the room. I'm so greatful that we were able to do this again this year.

Here's some pics of us in our ugly sweaters. I actually forgot mine at home. (It was an ugly BYU sweater. )

This is my yummy soup that I made for the first time. Don't want to brag or anything, but this soup was amazing. j/k. Thanks Kirstin for the recipe!

Our Christmas Card!

Hey Friends and Family! I always thought it would be weird to send out a Christmas Card from just Matt and I, but my coworker Kimberly talked me into it! Matt and I actually didn't have time to send them out, considering the hectic time of the school year (boo for finals! . . . but yay for passing!). Anyways, we just wanted to post it up on our blog for all to see! We hope everyone has a Happy Christmas and a Splendid New Year!

Mr. and Mrs. Robinson

Last month our friends Scott and Heather were married and sealed in the Logan Temple. Matt and I took work off to go to the ceremony and reception. Here's a couple pictures a little after their ceremony.

I don't know why but in every "guy group" picture, all the guys do a little "pinching" if you know what I'm sayin'. Please don't ask me why. It's just a thing they do, and one day I'll find out why. I think it's kind of funny though. In this picture, it looks like Makai is doing a little "pinching" to the bride. haha!

During the reception Travis, Matt and I went to Target and bought some stuff to nicely decorate their car with. I don't know why, but we walked out with Barbasol shaving cream, corn flakes, and flour. That's normal . . . right?

Keira photoshopped this and printed it out to stick on Scott's truck. Hilarious!

We left the reception a little early to go say goodbye to my Grandma Mini. She left to the Philippines the morning after and is going to be doing some temple work down there. I'm so proud of her! I can't believe she's going back after only being back from her mission for a couple months. That's a go-getter right there! Love you Grandma!

Wax On Wax Off

For Halloween Matt and I dressed up like Mr. Miagi and The Karate Kid. I thought I had it all planned out where I would look exactly like him. When I got everything on right before the party, I basically looked just like a china man with a balloon on my head. Not so good. I thought about it and I have never ever dressed up to be something cute for Halloween. Every year, I've been a man, or an object. Next year I am definitely going to be something slutty! j/k. I am so kidding!

Everyone who came had the funniest costumes on. Here are some of the pictures.

I thought it was so funny that Mari and Tony showed up as the same thing. We actually found out the night before when we were talking about how funny it would be if we showed up as the same people. Love it!

And here's a picture of the whole gang!

I love it. Happy Belated Halloween!

Konichiwa!

Friday night was my parent's sushi fundraiser night! The turn out was so good! They actually sold 25 more tickets than what they had room for. My mom called me Friday morning in a panick and was like, "Don't sell anymore tickets! . . . NO MORE ROOM!". That is so awesome! Thank you to everyone who came or wanted to come. It honestly means so much to us.

I'm not just saying this just to say this, but the sushi that night was probably the best sushi I've ever had . . . ever! Each person got 3 huge rolls (for only $15). You got the Vegas Roll, X Roll, and a choice between the California Roll, or the Salmon Crunchy Roll. I chose the Salmon Crunchy Roll and I'm glad I did.

The entertainment was amazing! They had a singer who sounded so much like Michael Bubble. It was funny because my dad was the MC and kept on referring to him as Michae Bubble.

My parents asked me to take pictures that night and so I would have to leave my seat to walk around and snap some pics of random things. Every time I came back, I noticed that my sushi rolls would disappear slowly. Later that night I found out that Matt would sneak and eat my food every time I left. His excuse? He thought I was done. Unbelievable!

I don't think this picture gives the sushi any justice.
